A Season of Purpose: How God Is Moving at LIU This December
A Time to Reflect and Recommit
December invites us to pause. To remember what God has done, to honor where we’ve come from, and to set our sights on what’s ahead. At LivingStone International University, this season isn’t just about closing the semester. It’s about opening hearts.
It’s a moment to thank God for every answered prayer, every life transformed, and every person who makes this work possible.
Student Spotlight: Wagooli Nick Simon
Wagooli’s story is a quiet testament to resilience and grace.
A 25-year-old business administration student from Namisindwa District, Wagooli faced hardship long before arriving at LIU. Raised first by his mother, then his father, and later his grandmother, he worked on the land and raised poultry to support their family.
When his grandmother passed away during the pandemic, Wagooli feared his education was over. Living alone in her small home and not yet finished with his exams, he prayed.
“I showed my father how much I loved school, and even though he didn’t have the money, he found a way.”
With perseverance and faith, Wagooli completed his A-Level studies and joined LIU.
“I know God was with me,” he says. “Now I’m here, studying and growing closer to Him.”
Wagooli’s journey is one of many at LIU students shaped by hardship and strengthened by purpose.
A Campus That Prays
This month, students paused their studies to seek God together.
The LIU Christian Union hosted a prayer retreat focused on renewal, reflection, and community. Students engaged in discussions, read scripture, and spent quiet time in prayer.
“We love seeing students lead with faith,” shared one staff member. “When they prioritize God, everything else falls into place.”
In a season filled with stress and distractions, they chose stillness. They chose Him.
The Gift That Changes Everything
During this season of giving, we remember that some of the most lasting gifts are not wrapped in ribbons. They are wrapped in purpose.
Through the Fletcher Scholars Sponsorship Program, donors help students like Wagooli continue their education. Just $3,200 per year covers tuition, fees, and mentorship.
“A Christ-centered education doesn’t just change one life,” says Dustin Gist, Development Coordinator. “It changes families and entire communities.”
