Transforming Lives and Building the Future: The Latest from LivingStone International University
At LivingStone International University (LIU), we believe that education is more than just acquiring knowledge — it is about transforming lives, rewriting stories, and building a foundation for the future of Africa. As we reflect on the recent milestones and stories emerging from our campus, we are reminded of the profound impact that faith, determination, and community can have.
Student Spotlight: Ouma Andrew’s Story of Resilience
Every student at LIU carries a unique story, but Ouma Andrew’s journey is a powerful testament to resilience and determination. At 24 years old, hailing from the Bukedea District in Uganda, Andrew is pursuing a degree in Information Technology (DIT). He chose LIU with a clear purpose: to grow both in his career and spiritually.
Andrew’s path has not been easy. Orphaned at a young age, he has been responsible for raising his own school fees most of his life. Adding to his challenges, a childhood accident left him disabled after losing a finger. To sustain himself and fund his education, Andrew turned to subsistence farming, planting groundnuts. When it came time to pay for his first semester at LIU, he made the difficult decision to lease out his piece of land for three years.
Despite currently being unable to farm, Andrew remains fiercely determined to finish his studies. “Having practically raised myself,” he shares, “I am hoping the education I acquire from LIU will help transform both my life and my story.” Andrew’s perseverance embodies the spirit of LIU, where students overcome immense obstacles to become the leaders of tomorrow.
A Message of Faith and Progress
The faith we have in the Lord continues to drive the growth and mission of LivingStone International University. As the semester draws to a close, we are thrilled to welcome about 30 newly admitted students, with more expected to join. Additionally, around 40 students have recently become part of the Roger Fletcher Scholarship Program, opening doors of opportunity that might otherwise remain closed.
We are also witnessing exciting physical growth on campus. The construction of the LivingStone Center has reached the roofing level. The quality of work and the determination of the team keep us on track for the completion of the Eastern Wing by September 2026.
Our commitment to excellence was recently recognized on a national stage. At the 16th Exhibition of Universities in Uganda, organized by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) on March 26, 2026, LIU was honored with the “Best Exhibitor” award among provisionally licensed Universities and Other Degree Awarding Institutions (ODAIS).
We are deeply grateful for God’s blessings and for everyone who continually prays for and supports LIU.
Day of Fasting: May 29, 2026
As LIU continues seeking the funds needed to complete construction of the LivingStone Center, we invite you to join us for a day of fasting on May 29, 2026.
Our hope is that this will be a time of intentional prayer and fasting as we ask God to come alongside this mission and provide for the next steps ahead.
The Power of Sharing the Story
“People destined to meet will do so, apparently by chance, at precisely the right moment.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Sometimes, God uses the simplest conversations to carry His work forward. Recently, Dustin from our development team traveled to Midland, Texas, to connect with new partners. While stopping for lunch at Chicken Salad Chick, a man noticed the LIU logo on Dustin’s shirt and asked, “Is that the LIU in Uganda?”
Caught slightly off guard, Dustin learned that the man had heard about LIU through a friend in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. For the next 15 minutes, they discussed the incredible work God is doing through LIU and how Christ-centered education is impacting lives across Africa.
As Dustin walked away, he realized that the specific mutual connection didn’t matter as much as the fact that someone, somewhere, had shared the story of LIU. That simple act of sharing gave Dustin the opportunity to continue the conversation.
This is the power of telling others about the mission of LIU. We encourage you to keep sharing the story. Tell someone about the work LIU is doing and how God is using this university to make a difference in Africa.
To all our partners, thank you for walking alongside us. Your support, prayers, and willingness to share our story are helping to transform a continent.
