How a Christian University in Uganda Builds Disciple-Makers
The mission of LIU has always been bold. For a growing university in Eastern Uganda, the idea of transforming Africa once felt almost larger than what could be imagined.
Today, students and staff are beginning to see the path more clearly. The mission advances when disciples of Jesus Christ are prepared to make more disciples.
On campus, discipleship training is being led by LIU’s chaplain and several student groups. Interest continues to grow each term. The long-term goal is to involve every student and many members of the faculty, making spiritual formation part of the entire university experience.
This approach reflects the instruction in 2 Timothy 2:2: “Believers are called to entrust what they have learned to faithful people who will teach others.” At LIU, students are not only receiving knowledge. They are being equipped to share truth, model Christlike leadership, and serve with integrity.

A Mission That Travels Beyond Campus
LIU graduates pursue many different professions. Some become accountants, teachers, programmers, ministers, media producers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders. Their careers may look different, but each graduate can carry the Gospel into places a traditional missionary may never reach.
A teacher can shape a generation of students. A business leader can create opportunities while leading honestly. A media professional can influence public conversations. A pastor can strengthen churches and families. A technology graduate can develop solutions that address needs across a community.
When graduates bring professional skill and Christian character together, their influence multiplies. They become leaders who can serve their communities while helping others discover the hope of Christ.

The LivingStone Center Is Creating Room for Growth
For more than a decade, the LivingStone Center has existed in plans, drawings, and prayers. Now its first wing is nearing completion, with roofing and finish work continuing on the campus.
Although this is only the first of three construction phases, the center has already changed the landscape of LIU. Students and alumni are taking pride in the progress, and local families are seeing a university that is prepared to remain, grow, and serve for years to come.
The building also supports LIU’s pursuit of permanent charter status. Uganda’s National Council for Higher Education officially recognizes LIU and its accredited programs, and adequate permanent facilities are an important part of the university’s continued development.

The LivingStone Center is not separate from the disciple-making mission. It creates room for students to learn, gather, worship, receive mentorship, and prepare for lives of service.

Welcoming the Next Generation of Christian Leaders
As LIU prepares for a new academic year, university leadership is praying that at least 225 new students will enroll.
Each student represents more than an enrollment number. Each one arrives with a story, a calling, and the potential to influence families and communities across Africa.
Reaching this goal will require continued recruitment, stronger infrastructure, financial support, and faithful prayer. It will also require partners who believe that investing in one student can create an impact that continues long after graduation.
The Fletcher Scholars Sponsorship Program is helping make that possible. Today, 33 sponsors are investing in students who may not otherwise have access to a university education. Through sponsorship, students receive an opportunity to grow academically, professionally, and spiritually.

Partnership Is Helping LIU Finish Strong
A strong beginning matters but finishing well creates a lasting impact.
This year, God has blessed LIU with meaningful progress. The LivingStone Center is moving forward. New Fletcher Scholar sponsors have joined the mission. Twenty-five prayer partners are faithfully lifting the university, its students, and its leaders.
These partnerships are already making a difference. Gifts help create space for growth. Sponsorships equip students to pursue their calling. Prayer strengthens every part of the mission and reminds the LIU community that this work belongs to God.
