Building Africa’s Future: How LivingStone International University is Transforming Lives
Walking in Faith, Building the Future: LIU’s Mission in Action
A Vision for Lasting Change
Imagine a university where education is more than just academics—it’s a catalyst for lasting transformation. A place where leadership is developed, faith is combined with action, and students leave prepared to make a difference in their communities.
This is the vision of LivingStone International University (LIU)—a Christ-centered institution that is raising a new generation of ethical leaders who are reshaping education, business, technology, and ministry across Africa.
For over a decade, LIU has been empowering students from nine African nations, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual foundation to thrive. With 343 students currently enrolled and over 500 graduates impacting communities, LIU is proving that education is the key to transformation.
But behind every statistic is a real story of change—one that is only possible because of partners like you.
From Students to Changemakers
At LIU, students don’t just earn degrees—they become leaders who drive meaningful change.
Meet Bob, Business Administration Major
“My dream is to help people in Africa by addressing food scarcity. I aim to focus on food production, a pressing issue in the sub-Saharan region.”
Bob’s vision is just one example of how LIU equips students to solve real-world challenges. By fostering innovation and leadership, the university empowers young minds to create solutions for their communities—whether it’s in agriculture, technology, education, or ministry.
David, a Media & Communications Graduate
“LIU gave me more than a degree—it gave me a purpose. Now, I use my skills to amplify voices and share powerful stories across Africa.”
We are reminded by stories like Bob’s and David’s that one of the most effective ways to build a better future is to invest in education.
Expanding Impact: The Path Forward
LIU is growing—but to equip more leaders, the university must expand its reach and resources.
The Amplify Campaign is an ambitious plan to develop the campus in Mbale, Uganda, to accommodate 1,000 students. This includes:
- A new Administration Building to enhance LIU’s credibility and secure its permanent charter.
- New dormitories and classrooms to provide students with a better learning environment.
- Expanded academic programs to address Africa’s evolving needs in business, education, media, and more.
LIU is dedicated to its purpose despite the difficulties caused by the recent suspension of the USAID grant. The steadfast support of individuals who think that education has the ability to transform lives will ensure that growth continues.
How You Can Get Involved
Transformation doesn’t happen in isolation—it takes a community of visionaries, partners, and advocates. Here’s how you can play a part in LIU’s mission:
- Request a Lunch & Learn – Gather your team, church, or group for an interactive session about LIU’s impact and vision.
- Invite a Speaker – Bring an LIU representative to your church or event and hear firsthand how education is shaping Africa’s future.
- Partner with Us – Join the Foundation Circle, a community of committed supporters ensuring LIU’s long-term sustainability.
Interested? Dustin Gist will be visiting Wichita Falls, TX (March 17-19, 2025) and the Austin, TX area (March 24-27, 2025) to meet with churches and share how God is working through LIU. If you’re in the area, he would love to connect—whether over coffee, lunch, or even a round of golf—to discuss how you can be part of this mission. A Future Worth Investing In
Faith is becoming more visible every day at LIU as students develop, graduate, and go out into the world with their leadership and knowledge.
Their success is not just theirs—it belongs to everyone who believes in the power of education, mentorship, and faith-driven leadership to create a stronger, more resilient Africa.
